Introduction
Welcome to BIMA D-day 2013. Our aim is to build on what we started in 2012 and make this October’s event; bigger, better and more effective.
Last year we had over 1,800 school and college students, from across the UK participate. We paired nearly 70 schools with digital agencies and professionals. Everyone was amazed by the enthusiasm, talent and quality of the students and the digital ideas they produced.
However on the flip side, we also discovered first hand, a real lack of awareness in schools and amongst younger people of the industry. There was very limited understanding to the breadth and opportunities of a career in digital. It’s a fact that our young people are incredibly digitally savvy as users, but blinkered to the digital roles that are shaping their world.
For 2013 we are calling on a wider circle of professionals. We invite anyone who practices digital; from marketing to advertising agencies, games developers, inhouse digital teams etc. to help us. We aren’t asking for much - only one day!
There are over 15,000 schools in the UK that could run this event. Hence we have a real opportunity to make a difference and safeguard the future talent needed to maintain the UK’s creative excellence.
