Please note that the times outlined below are last years. We’re working on the 2016 agenda and will let you know once its ready.

Agency Meet and Greet

  • Meet and greet teacher(s) who will be taking part in the day.
  • Walk through the agenda and customise to take into account breaks, number of students taking part etc.

Room set-up and plugging in

  • Connect presentation to the screen

9:00-9:05 am 5 mins

Digital day commences

  • Students take their seats and Digital Day commences!
  • Agency members introduce themselves and give a high level summary of the day ahead
9:05-9:30 am 25 mins

Presentations begin, inc. video

  • Presentation deck is used for agency to talk about themselves – who they are, what they do, who they work with etc.*
  • Agency to introduce who BIMA is*
  • Agency to provide an overview of what Digital Day is*
  • 10 minute video giving insights into what it’s like to work in digital.

* Slides are provided in the deck for teachers to present this

Agencies: Please customise this presentation as much as you need, but use it as a skeleton of what we’d like students to get out of the day.

Each slide contains notes to help you understand and be able to present.

 

9:30-10:15 am 45 mins

Live, interactive broadcast with one of digital’s most iconic leaders

Ogilvy Group UK Vice Chairman Rory Sutherland will address Digital Day participants in our first ever 360-degree live stream

10:15-10:30 am 15 mins

School mid-morning break

  • Students, agencies and teachers take a 15 minute break
10:30-10:45 am 15 mins

Deep dive case study into careers in digital

  • Agency to present one of their case studies to demonstrate the type of work they do and how different roles in digital relate to the finished product or service
  • Take the students through the wide range of career options and utilise the Job Description packs provided by BIMA.

10:45-11 am 15 mins

The challenges!

  • Short videos shown from our sponsors to introduce each of the challenges
  • Agency to give examples of similar work and inspire the students around each of the topics

11-12:30 pm 1.5 hours

Students begin their challenges!

  • Splitting off into their chosen groups, the students begin their challenges*
  • Agencies and teachers rotate around the groups helping to guide and focus the students.
  • Provide organisational hints and tips and keep the students on task.

*We would advise that teachers organise students into groups of 4-5 students ahead of digital and also select the challenge that each team will undertake.

12:30-1:00 pm 1 hour

Lunch break

  • Challenges stop for lunch break.

Teachers should adjust this section of the day according to their timetabling.

1:30-2:30 pm 1 hour

Challenges continue

  • During this time the students should continue working through their challenges
  • We recommend that they should aim to be transferring their rough work onto the submission forms from 30 mins before the end.
2:30pm until end of day

Dragon’s Den style pitches (optional)

  • During this time students should present back their ideas to the rest of the class(3-5 mins per group depending on numbers)
  • Agency/ teachers/ students should peer-mark the responses in order to select the idea they wish to go forward to the national competition (1 entry per challenge, per school)

  • Please use the last few minutes of the day to complete our questionnaires to help us make Digital Day even better next year.
  • There’s a questionnaire for students and one for teachers.
